Project LIFT, a 501(c)3 nonprofit, provides a one-on-one mentoring program for under-served youth in North Fulton County. We support and empower them to become sustainable and contributing members in their communities by focusing on academic support, mentor and peer accountability, and life skills development.

Project LIFT serves 8th-12th grade students who are: having difficulty passing mandated tests; lacking the ability to withstand peer pressure; lacking motivation; not performing to their potential; and/or enmeshed in difficult family situations. Students are referred by Fulton County School personnel, parents or community partners. Each participant is matched with a Mentor who works directly with the student to improve their academic performance and enhance their abilities to withstand daily challenges as a teen.

Funding provided in part by the Fulton County Board of Commissioners under the guidance of the Housing and Human Services Department Grant Programs.

Project LIFT – Volunteer Opportunity for Men

Project LIFT is in critical need of male mentors. There are male students waiting for a man that they can look up to and one that will challenge them to reach their full potential. Research shows that mentoring is a proven method for reducing dropout rates. Mentoring helps students improve their self-confidence, attitude and commitments to themselves and their future.

You could step out and have the kind of impact that one of our students described this way:

“Mentors help in any ways they can, from giving you a ride to a game or listening to you rant about something. They offer support and advice when they can. I really improved in school, really my whole work ethic changed. [My mentor] motivated me to do better…it didn’t matter if it was a simple congratulations, somebody was there to let me know I accomplished something good.”

Could you be a friend, role model and supporter to one of our students during the 2014-15 school year? Project LIFT mentors and students meet Tuesday evenings from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m. You bring your passion and experiences; we will provide the training and support. If you would like more information, simply Email Project LIFT and we will contact you to discuss this opportunity.
